The artistic practice of Jivan van der Ende (b. 1993, NL) consists of installations, performances and publications. In her practice she questions the status given to objects, whether artifacts or utensils. Her researching method is based on the act of endless combining, documenting, collecting and (re)searching. A recurring subject is how combinations of colour and material are associated with political power structures and social roles. She uses this historical and cultural research to question their power and decontextualize their meanings. Van der Ende’s work takes a physical and participative viewer into consideration. She aims for an intimate encounter with an audience, where the meaning of the work is often influenced by the audience’s own intentions.

Jivan van der Ende studied fashion design and fine arts, exhibited her work in both Belgium and The Netherlands and celebrated her first solo-exhibition in LLS Paleis (December 2020, Antwerp).
