During a two-day workshop Bart Van Merode and Roel Huisman will investigate scenography and the contradictions between reality vs imagination, carrier vs subject, autonomous vs applied and fantasy vs practice in a presentation.
Friday 25/3/2022 + Saturday 26/3/2022 10h – 16h
VONK_Veldeman, Kempische Kaai 85, 3500 Hasselt
Steve Salembier will talk about the essential elements in his transdisciplinary practice, the narrative and representation of space through image, object and sounds. His works navigates in between performance and installative art and appropriates different media ranging from architecture and scenography to photography, video & music.
Steve Salembier is not uniquely interested in creating images, sounds or experiences, but rather in the "machinery" behind it, in exposing the process and the protocols by which a spatial experience comes into being. In his work it is therefore not so much the artist himself but rather the audience which brings a final meaning to the work. In this lecture Steve will present a series of projects and hereby excavate comprehensively the views, methods and practice behind it.

During a two-day workshop we will focus on two aspects of dramaturgy: “the progress of creation processes” and “the relationships with the audience”.
Roos Euwe is co-founder and permanent dramaturg of BOG., the Flemish-Dutch union of theater makers. Roos is also a guest teacher at LUCA Drama in Leuven.
On the last day of the seminar Thursday 31/3 we close off with a drink.

In this lecture Lawrence Malstaf will give an introduction to his work as an installation artist and scenographer. He will focus on works that approach the visitors as co-actors engaging with each other and with spaces and objects transforming over time.
The work of Lawrence Malstaf can be situated on the borderline between the visual and the theatrical. He develops installation and performance art with a strong focus on movement, coincidence, order and chaos and a series of sensorial rooms for individual visitors.
