Workshop scenography

During a two-day workshop Bart Van Merode and Roel Huisman will investigate scenography and the contradictions between reality vs imagination, carrier vs subject, autonomous vs applied and fantasy vs practice in a presentation.
Bart Van Merode studied InSitu3 at the Koninklijke Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He is connected to International Theater Amsterdam for 7 years as associate designer of Jan Versweyveld. In addition, he worked as lighting designer and scenographer for Staatstheater Mainz, Theatre de la Ville Luxembourg, Het Nieuwstedelijk and De Nationale Opera en Ballet Amsterdam and the festival of Aix en Provence. Bart is also a teacher of the scenography course at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp.
Roel Huisman graduated in 2000 from the Design Academy in Eindhoven as an interior product designer. He designed performances for Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the National Theater and the Theater Company. He is currently works as a furniture maker, model builder, interior designer, scenographer and teacher in various theater schools.
With their partnership 'HuismanvanMerode' Bart van Merode and Roel Huisman are working on various presentations. In 2018 they designed the exhibition ‘Speculatief Design Archief’ for Het Nieuwe Instituut and in 2021 the exhibition 'E/motion' in collaboration with Jan Versweyveld for Momu.

Who can participate? Artists working professionally in the field of the visual arts and the transdisciplinary performance arts. With the latter we aim at the artists working on the border between visual arts and performance arts.
